Verweilst Du länger in einer Stadt, machst aus einem Bartisch deinen Stammplatz, der Barman ruft dich per Vornamen, der Barbier grüsst Dich aus der anderen Strassenseite und der Lebensmittelladenbesitzer packt dir automatisch eine Schachtel Rothmanns in die Einkaufstasche, dann mutierst Du erneut, vom Reisenden zum Nachbarn. Dann bist Du ein Bestandteil deiner Umgebung, auch wenn die Wurzeln die Du kurzzeitig schlägst nicht das Licht der Welt erblicken wird. Davor bist Du bereits wieder aufgebrochen.
Dieses ist mein Fall in BAKU. Eine Stadt die mir keine Liebe auf den ersten Blick beschert. Eine Stadt, mit 2 Millionen Einwohnern dessen Charme ich erst nach und nach, ums Eck herum entdecken muss. Eine Stadt die vorwiegend durch die Gemütlichkeit und Herzlichkeit Ihrer Leute besticht, durch die Romantik und Gelassenheit ihres Handelns. Mehrheitlich Azeris, Bakelers wie die Einwohner der Stadt heissen, aber auch Russen, Perser, Türken, Georgier Kasachen, Uzbeken und Europäer. Alle diese ethnische Gruppen bewohnen die Metropole am Kaspischen Meer. Schon seit Jahrtausenden.

Besuche kaum noch die Stadt und deren Restaurants. Ich verwende aus dem Gemüseladen die neu entdeckten Zutaten und verbinde diese mit meiner stets gewohnten mediterranen Kost. Benutze hierfür die Hotelküche. Im Hotel empfange ich schon mal Hausgäste wenn die Rezeption gerade nicht belegt ist, und weise diese in das Haus ein und berate Sie schon mal über die Highlights der Stadt.
Ich geniesse es Menschen zu beobachten, dass tue ich aus meinem Balkon, oder schon mal auf einen Platz, beim Busfahren, beim Einkaufen. Ich geniesse die lokale Musik und stelle fest, wie Leidenschaftlich und Sanft die Azeris sein können.
